Throne „Solo”

A short one-person bench is mounted on an empty, decommissioned "cable junction box" with a concrete base. For five months, the ensemble stood unauthorised on a busy thoroughfare in Berlin-Neukölln with the aim of "charging" it with the usual stickers and spray-painting. Contaminated in this way with the flair of Neukölln, Thron "Solo" was now able to enter into dialogue with other environments, for example in Brühl, where it was repeatedly moved to other selected locations with the help of the municipal building yard.

The Beobachtungsstelle für Anomalien (BfA) collected and mapped systemic irregularities in public spaces and routines. Inspired by this, Christian Hasucha developed Throne "Solo" in spring 2023 and exposed it to the streets of Neukölln for six months. https://www.anomalien.info/ian-000-000-1615/

Hasucha's project Throne "Solo" was then invited by the group TRAFIKprojekte, Brühl and accompanied over a period of twelve weeks. Special thanks to Max Erbacher. There were the following locations in the city:

23.09. - 02.10.2023 Römerstaße 490, on meadow in front of bushes
02.10. – 11.10. 2023 Market 23/25, next to tree
11.10. – 19.10.2023 Kurfürstenstraße, at Karlsbad next to lamp post

With its 100-kilogramme base and the 50-kilogramme concrete sides of the bench, the combination of objects could be set up manually immovably at the locations selected by Christian Hasucha.
